Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is set to make his debut for Galatasaray after completing his €75 million transfer from Napoli last weekend.
The Istanbul giants will face Gaziantep FK in their first match of the new Turkish Super Lig season.
Manager Okan Buruk, along with the technical and medical staff, has worked diligently to ensure that the Nigerian star—considered Turkey’s transfer of the century—is ready as soon as possible. Osimhen, who has continued training in line with the technical team’s guidance during the prolonged transfer process, arrived in Istanbul in good condition. However, due to his lack of match fitness, he may not be included in the starting lineup initially.
Buruk plans to include Osimhen in the squad for Friday’s Süper Lig opener against Gaziantep FK, taking all possibilities into account. Osimhen has no playing restrictions, as his license is valid, so he is likely to get some playing time depending on how the match unfolds. The manager will discuss the situation with Osimhen during this week’s training sessions and will also be cautious with Argentinian star Mauro Icardi, who is recovering from a lengthy injury, during the first week of the season.
