The Governor stated this at a book launch to mark the 15th coronation anniversary of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji.
The Governor, who promised to live up to his admonition on people to write about their lives by unveiling his biography during his next birthday, said the culture of writing biographies and autobiographies should be encouraged as part of contributions to scholarship.
He said: “Leaders and top officials across the society should author a book about their lives. We must conserve and preserve our human history for future generations. My Spokesperson is already working on a biography to be unveiled during my birthday in 2026.
“The goal is to allow the citizens of today and tomorrow to read about the mindset of the leader, his hopes and aspirations, his challenges and successes. Biography and autobiography put readers inside the interior of leaders’ successes and setbacks.
“I also want to commend the Federal Government for restoring history as a compulsory subject of study in our schools. The decision by the Federal Ministry of Education is primed to bridge a major gap in our educational institutions,” Adeleke said.
He commended Oba Oyetunji for writing his biography, noting that Nigerians must not underestimate the power of history.
In his remarks, the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Oyetunji, commended the authors for a well-packaged account of his growing up and emergence as a royal father.
Oba Oyetunji, the 21st and current Ataoja of Osogbo, ascended the throne in 2010 after his nomination was approved by the former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
He succeeded Oba Iyiola Oyewale Matanmi and since becoming monarch, he has engaged in civic matters, cultural preservation, and peace initiatives.
