Oyo, Osun Customs Raised N25.7bn in Three Months – Official

The Oyo and Osun Customs commands have successfully generated N25.7 billion in revenue over the past three months, marking a significant achievement for the region. This impressive figure reflects ongoing efforts to enhance revenue collection and combat smuggling activities.

In a recent press conference, Comptroller Adetunji Aremu, the Area Controller for Oyo and Osun Customs, announced these results. He credited the success to improved operational strategies, increased stakeholder engagement, and the implementation of advanced technology for monitoring and enforcement. “Our focus on compliance and revenue enhancement has paid off,” Aremu stated.

The revenue collected comprises duties, levies, and other customs-related fees, showcasing a notable increase compared to previous quarters. This growth underscores the effectiveness of the customs service’s initiatives to strengthen its operational framework.

Comptroller Aremu emphasized the importance of collaboration with local businesses to promote understanding of customs regulations. “We are committed to working alongside the community to encourage legitimate trade and reduce smuggling,” he said. This approach aims to foster a more compliant trading environment.

Additionally, the customs command has intensified anti-smuggling operations, leading to the seizure of various contraband goods, including textiles and vehicles. These efforts not only protect the economy but also contribute to public safety.

Looking ahead, the Oyo and Osun Customs are determined to build on this momentum. Aremu expressed confidence in achieving even higher revenue targets in the coming months. “Our team is dedicated to enhancing efficiency and continuing our fight against smuggling,” he added.

The success of the Oyo and Osun Customs serves as an encouraging example for other regions, highlighting the critical role of customs in economic development and the importance of fostering compliance in trade practices.
