“The NWC calls on all leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members of our Party in Akwa Ibom State to remain united and continue to work together for the progress of the Party.”
Meanwhile, the PDP Advocates for Peace and Justice in the state have thrown its support to the National Working Committee over the dissolution of party Executive in the state accusing the former Exco of hub nubbing with All Progressive Congress to undermine The party’s interest in the state .
In a reply to the press statement credited to the sacked chairman of the party Hon Àniekan Akpan , the Chairman of PDP Advocates For Peace and Justice Dr Tom Fredfish described appointment of the Care taker Committee as a rescue mission for the party in the state .
The statement reads :”On the Caretaker Committee:
The appointment of Hon. Igwat Umoren as caretaker chairman is not just constitutional – it is a rescue mission. The Akpan-led gang left PDP in shambles, bleeding members and goodwill. The caretaker team is here to clean up the mess, restore discipline, and rebuild confidence. Only enemies of progress would oppose such a move.
Fredfish accused the sacked chairman Hon Àniekan Akpan of watching helplessly as members defected to APC without doing anything to stop them
“He presided over mass defections, endless division, and the exit of a sitting governor in our party’s history. If betrayal and incompetence are the yardsticks for “valid leadership,” then Akpan deserves an award for failure” .
Fredfish therefore appreciated the PDP National Working Committee for the prompt response to rescue the party in Akwa Ibom from former leaders who were carried away by the wind of defection in the state .
“The PDP Advocates for Peace and Justice stand firmly behind the decision of the NEC to dissolve the defunct Akpan-led exco. Any attempt to whitewash that failed leadership is dead on arrival.
“PDP is the people’s party, and no clique of desperate politicians or APC collaborators will derail its forward march.
“We declare without apology: Akwa Ibom PDP has entered a new era under Hon. Igwat Umoren. Betrayers and political jobbers can cry, rant, and peddle propaganda but the truth remains unshaken”.
