Police raid criminal hideout, arrest suspect, recover firearms

Akwa Ibom state Police Command has raided a suspected criminal hideout in Itak Village, Ikono local government area of the and arrested one suspect .

According to the statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Timfon John and made available to Journalists in Uyo stated that the suspect was also member of a cult group terrorizing the area

The statement reads in parts :
On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at approximately 0517 hours, Operatives of the Command successfully raided a criminal hideout in Itak Village, Ikono Local Government Area.

“Credible intelligence led to the arrest of one Emmanuel Emmanuel Anthony, a 26-year-old male, who is suspected to be a member of a cult group.”

John said during the raid the
Operatives recovered some items from the suspect including one locally fabricated pistol, Ekpo masquerade mask and a bag containing items suspected to be charms

John said investigation has commenced as the public will briefed on subsequent developments on the incident.

Preliminary investigations have begun, further developments will be communicated as the investigation progresses.”
