Policemen and Air Force Personnel Clash Over Drug Suspect

A violent clash occurred recently at a checkpoint in Jeddo, Delta State, between Nigerian Police Force officers and Nigerian Air Force personnel, causing a commotion that quickly gained attention.

The confrontation unfolded when police officers were transporting a suspect, who was allegedly caught with substances suspected to be codeine, Indian hemp, and Canadian loud. However, when the officers reached the checkpoint, they were intercepted by Air Force personnel who allegedly knew the suspect and demanded his release.

According to the state police spokesperson, SP Edafe Bright, the Air Force personnel insisted on the suspect’s release, but when the police officers refused, the situation escalated, resulting in an unprovoked attack on the officers.

SP Bright condemned the altercation, describing it as unfortunate, and reassured the public that the matter was being handled. He further emphasized the strong working relationship between the Nigerian Police Force and the Nigerian Air Force in Delta State.

“The Delta State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, and Air Force authorities are working together to address the incident and ensure that such an unfortunate event does not recur,” he stated.
