Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the leadership of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria and overseas, have called for deeper collaboration between government and faith-based organisations to boost social impact, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, social welfare and peace building.
This call was made during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society, led by its newly elected President, Prince Adeniji Kazeem (SAN), to the Lagos House, Marina.
Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to work more closely with religious organisations, describing them as vital partners in grassroots development and moral reorientation.
He acknowledged the Society’s longstanding interventions in education and health, commending its role in public enlightenment and community service.
“The Lagos State Government recognises the pivotal role faith-based organisations play in shaping society. We remain committed to partnering with organisations like Ansar-Ud-Deen on initiatives that uplift the lives of our citizens,” the governor said.
Prince Kazeem, in his remarks, emphasised the importance of strategic partnerships between government and religious institutions, not just for service delivery, but also for building a morally upright and cohesive society.
“Our society stands as a dependable ally to the Lagos State Government in achieving inclusive and sustainable development.
“We believe that greater collaboration in education, health, and welfare programmes, as well as capacity building for religious leaders in governance and transparency will deliver significant social dividends,” he said.
He further called for structured interfaith cooperation to foster peace, unity, and mutual respect among Lagos residents of diverse religious backgrounds.
According to him, religious leaders should also be empowered with governance skills to enhance their ability to manage community-based initiatives effectively and transparently.
The meeting also served as a platform to reaffirm the commitment of both parties to strengthening the moral fabric of the society through inclusive development and public enlightenment.
