Sanwo-Olu, Origin Group chair tour MLM Agro Food Hub in Lagos

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and the Executive Chairman of Origin Tech Group, Prince Joseph Samuel have toured the mid-level Agro Food Hub under construction at Abijo in Sangotedo, Eti-Osa Local Government Area of the state.

The governor was accompanied during the tour by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and Secretary to the Lagos State Government, ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin.

The facility tour came on the heels of the recently launched Produce for Lagos Programme and a N500bn Offtake Guarantee Fund, an initiative designed to transform the state’s food system, strengthen agricultural resilience, and improve food security. The initiative also aligns with both the Lagos Agricultural Roadmap launched in 2021, and the Produce for Lagos Initiative.

Speaking on the occasion, Sanwo-Olu commended Origin Tech Group on the over 90 per cent completion of the facility.

“This hub, built on 23,000 square metres of land, will provide storage facilities, trading floors, and parking, helping residents in this corridor access fresh food more easily. It is a part of our broader plan to decentralise food distribution across Lagos,” he stated.

In the same vein, Samuel said Origin Tech Group is the technical partner for the development of the project. He said that similar hubs were underway in Agege, Lagos Island, Oregun, and Ikorodu. He added that the hubs reached various completion stages.

He revealed that plans have been put in place for more of such hubs in Epe and Badagry with a view to connecting to the main logistics hub in Ketu-Ereyun, which is expected to serve as the backbone of the food distribution network.
