Vice President Kashim Shettima has left London accompanied by members of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari’s family, heading to Nigeria for the burial ceremony scheduled today in Daura, Katsina State.
Following directives from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Shettima is leading the delegation tasked with bringing Buhari’s remains back to his hometown for interment. The federal government’s team, led there by the Vice President, also has departed London to take part in the burial proceedings.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha, confirmed the developments, highlighting the administration’s role in ensuring a dignified farewell for the former president.
The burial in Daura is expected to draw family, government officials, and national dignitaries later today.
