Soldiers kill 7 terrorists, arrest 10 others as 19 terrorists, family members surrender to troops

The Nigeria Army said its counter terrorism and internal security operations across the country has led to the killing of seven terrorists and arrest of ten others in the last two days.

Acting Director Army Public Relations Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, who made this known, said In a series of coordinated and intelligence-driven operations across the country, the Nigerian Army conducted between July 22-24,  troops recovered assorted arms, ammunition, and logistics equipment in multiple theatres of operation, while 19 members of the Boko haram group and their family surrendered to troops.

Anele, in a statement, said In Borno State, troops of 151 Task Force Battalion ambushed and neutralized two ISWAP/JAS terrorists in Bula Daburu Village, capturing logistics items including 8 bicycles, bags of food supplies, and mats. Similarly, troops of 222 Battalion neutralized one terrorist during an ambush ahead of Alau Dam in Konduga LGA. Additionally, 19 family members of terrorists — comprising 7 adult females and 12 children, surrendered to 202 Battalion in Bama, citing unbearable conditions in terrorist enclaves.

She said In Niger State, troops of Operation FANSAR YAMMA Sector 1 and 2, in coordination with air component, neutralized scores of terrorists at Mahula Village and captured 2 AK-47 rifles, 18 motorcycles, and ammunition. In Zamfara State, troops of 1 Brigade neutralized 3 terrorists in Maradun LGA, recovering 2 AK-47 rifles, motorcycles, and communication devices. Eight motorcycles were also destroyed in Anka LGA while 78 rustled livestock were recovered and handed over to appropriate authorities.

In separate counter-crime operations in Plateau State under Operation SAFE HAVEN, the army spokesperson, said troops arrested high-profile suspects including Dayabu Idris and Ardo Forof Ardo Habibu Mohammed for their involvement in killings, kidnappings, and attacks on security personnel. Troops also recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and arrested three additional suspects linked to the killing of a cattle herder in Jos East.

Elsewhere, troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE in Benue State neutralized one kidnapper and rescued three victims in Gbise Town. In Enugu State, two kidnap suspects were arrested in Akwuke Forest. One suspect was neutralized during a follow-up operation, and their hideout was destroyed.

The Nigerian Army also arrested two suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers, one in Ngala LGA of Borno and another in Chibok, with communication devices, food items, and over ₦140,000 in cash. These arrests disrupted the supply chain of terrorist groups in the region.

She assured that the Nigerian Army remains resolute and professional in its commitment to safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity, protecting citizens, and degrading all forms of terrorism and criminality across the country.
