Strike: Health minister in closed-door meeting with nurses, midwives

By John Ogunsemore

The Minister of Health, Prof Muhammad Ali Pate, on Friday, held a closed-door meeting with the leadership of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) and representatives of the Ministry of Labour.

The meeting comes three days after the NANNM commenced a nationwide warning strike over what it described as government’s failure to respond meaningfully to its 15-day ultimatum issued on July 14, 2025.

The Ministries of Health and Labour is currently negotiating with the nursing association to end the one-week warning strike which commenced from July 29 to August 5.

The NANNM had decried poor working conditions while accusing the government of neglecting nurse’s welfare across federal health institutions.
