Commissioner of Police, Taraba State, Mrs. Betty Otimenyin, has warned criminals to repent or relocate from the state: “It will be too hot for them to operate. We have just arrested 12 suspects. We will not relent in our efforts to rid Taraba State of criminals.

“Our officers remain committed to pursuing justice with diligence and integrity. Officers have been charged to rise up to the task and flush out the criminals. The command has imbibed community policing. Operatives should apply professionalism when carrying out their duties. I have encouraged officers on discipline, as insubordination will not be tolerated.

“I have visited tactical team operatives. The command will continue to demonstrate resilience, innovation and professionalism in safeguarding the lives and properties of citizens.

“I also visited some flash points in Kona mountains, Lau LG; Puppile village and Donkin mountain, Yorro LG; Kondo mountain, Ardo Kola LG; and Chenchengi, Takum LG. We are reinforcing security collaboration between the police and the public, including stakeholders, to ensure a safer state.

“Police operatives arrested 12 suspected armed robbers and thugs in various locations. We have charged some of the suspects to court. I have warned officers to shun corruption and illegal duties. They should cultivate good relationships with the public and respect fundamental human rights of citizens.

“IGP Olukayode Egbetokun’s vision is to fight crime and criminality, uphold justice, fairness, protect human dignity and restore standards and values. We will engage in robust and effective human and technical intelligence gathering process to enhance the capacity of personnel.”
