President Bola Tinubu has called for unity and peaceful co-existence among Nigerians for the overall development of the country.
The Director, Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Suleiman Haruna, in a statement issued in Abuja, said the president made the call at the National Mosque, Abuja during a special Jumaat prayer organised as part of activities to mark the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
Tinubu who was represented by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said Nigeria could only achieve the dream of her founding fathers when citizens live together in peace, tolerate one another and work hard. Idris said differences would always exist, saying that the president’s message was one of hope, unity, and togetherness.
He further said that all Nigerians must imbibe the values so that, collectively, Nigerians could achieve the progress and prosperity that Mr President promised on assumption of office. Idris explained that although the country was undergoing transformation, the Tinubu administration was making steady progress towards tackling them.
He called on Nigerians to be patient as efforts were ongoing to turn around the fortunes of the nation. While congratulating Nigerians on the anniversary, the president urged the citizens to continue to pray for the leaders and the country as it moved towards attaining a brighter future.
With the theme: “Nigeria at 65: All Hands-on Deck for a Greater Nation,” the minister said the president was appealing to all Nigerians, irrespective of ethnic, religious, political, or social affiliations, to come together in unison to build the Nigeria of their dreams.
Idris also highlighted the achievements of the Tinubu administration, saying that Nigeria had recorded significant economic growth, improvements in security, notable progress in agriculture, and advances in other critical sectors.
He added that “what is needed now is for Nigerians to work “hand-in-hand,” while wishing Nigerians a peaceful and joyous celebration.
Also speaking, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohammed Abubakar Kyari, said Nigeria was on a trajectory to recover its lost glory in the community of nations.
In his remarks, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Traditional Council, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, called for peaceful co-existence and prayed for the well-being and prosperity of the nation at 65.
