UNIMED’s new VC Adejuyigbe assumes office

The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, Professor Ebunoluwa Aderonke Adejuyigbe, on Wednesday assumed office.

Professor Adejuyigbe, whose appointment was announced in March by the state Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, is the first female and third substantive Vice-Chancellor of the university.

Professor Adejuyigbe’s assumption of office came on the heels of the release of the white paper that emanated from the report submitted to the Visitor to the University and Governor of the state, Hon. Aiyedatiwa, by the visitation panel he set up.

Adejuyigbe, a Professor of Paediatrics, hails from Akoko North East Local Government Area of the State.

She is the current Executive Director of the Central Office of Research at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, and a Consultant Paediatrician at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife.

She is a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Medicine, former Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, OAU, Vice-President of the African Society of Paediatric Infectious Diseases, and Co-Chair of the National Child Health Technical Working Committee.

Professor Adejuyigbe’s appointment was made public on Friday, 7 March 2025, based on the recommendation of the Governing Council of the institution to the Executive Governor of Ondo State.
