Abia govt slams Enyimba TV for unsealing property

From Okey Sampson, Umuahia

The Abia State Government has described as an affront to the judiciary the alleged unsealing of a property belonging to a local radio/TV station, sealed by officials of the Greater Aba Development Authority (GADA), to which a High Court gave a subsisting order.

In a statement, the management of GADA said in 2024 it sealed the said property, accusing the owner of violating building regulations.

However, the owner of the property, not satisfied with the action of GADA, went to court, which issued an injunction directing all parties to maintain the status quo.

“This directive is binding on all parties, including Enyimba TV and Radio, and there has been no subsequent order or judicial pronouncement permitting any resumption of construction or other activities on the site.

“It is on record that the management of Enyimba TV and Radio has not denied unsealing the building and commencing work, actions which are in clear defiance of the subsisting court order. Such conduct undermines the authority of the judiciary and constitutes a blatant disregard for due process.”

GADA said that despite undue provocations by the owner of the property, it will continue to abide by the rule of law and the decisions of competent courts and remains committed to legal compliance, transparency, and the protection of public interest.
