•APC records 2 defections

The political realignment in the House of Representatives continued yesterday as 30 members switched political parties.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded its first defections in the House since the inception of the 10th Assembly, as Deputy House spokesperson, Philip Agbese, defected to the Labour Party (LP) while Mustapha Abdullahi from Ikara/Kubau federal constituency of Kaduna state defected from the APC to the African Democratic Congress ( ADC).
The new entrants to the ADC included the Minority Leader, George Ozodinobi, who defected from the LP; Harris Okonkwo, representing Idemili North/Idemili South federal constituency of Anambra state, and Seyi Sowunmi, who represents Ojo federal constituency of Lagos state, who also defected from the LP to the ADC.
Yaya Bauchi Tongo (Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye), Mani Maishinko Katami (Binji/Silame, Sokoto), Abdussamad Dasuki (Kebbe/Tambuwal, Sokoto) and Umar Yusuf Yabo (Yabo/Shagari, Sokoto) joined the ADC from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Bashir Gorau (Goronyo/Gada federal constituency, Sokoto) moved from PDP to ADC, with George Olawande (Amuwo-Odofin, Federal constituency Lagos) joining the ADC from LP. In all, the ADC gained 10 new members.
On the flipside, nine members of the House elected on the platform of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) from Kano State joined the APC. They included Ghali Mustapha (Ajingi/Albasu/Gaya federal constituency), Shehu Bello (Fagge federal constituency), Dankawu Idris (Kumbotso federal constituency), Hussain Hassan Shehu (Nasarawa federal constituency) and Rabiu Yusuf (Sumaila/Takai federal constituency).
Others were Garba Chiroma (Gezawa/Gabasawa federal constituency), Ibrahim Mohammed (Gwale federal constituency), Tijjani Jobe (Tofa/Dawakin-Tofa/Rimingado federal constituency), and Aliu Madaki, deputy minority leader (Dala federal constituency).
In Osun State, Akanni Ademola and Oladebo Lanre Olomololaye dumped the PDP for Accord Party while in Taraba State, Jaafaru Yakubu (Bali/Gassol) and Sadiq Abbas Tafida (Jalingo/Yorro/Zing) left the major opposition party for the APC.
Similarly, in Imo state, Ikeagwuonu Ugochinyere (Ideato federal constituency) and Nwogu Mathew (Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala federal constituency) declared for the Action Peoples Party ( APC).
In Zamfara State, Bello Shinkafi (Shinkafi/Zurmi, Zamfara) left the PDP to the APC; just as Ibrahim Mohammed (Birnin Kebbi/Kalgo/Bunza) dumped the major opposition party for the ruling ruling party in Kebbi state.
Mohammed Bassi, representing Mayo Belwa/Ganye/Jada/Toungo federal constituency of Adamawa state, also defected from the PDP to the APC.
