Kola Ologbodinya, Media Adviser to the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of deliberately fueling crises within opposition parties to weaken democratic competition.
Ologbodinya alleged that the ongoing issues between the ADC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as well as internal divisions within political parties, are part of a broader strategy to prevent the emergence of a strong opposition ahead of future elections.
According to him, the crises currently rocking political parties are not organic but are being “sponsored” by forces aligned with the ruling party.
He also dismissed the recent protest by ADC leaders as mere agitation, stating that it was a deliberate move to send a message to the President and those allegedly backing internal divisions within opposition parties.
“The supposed crises in political parties are being sponsored. The protest by the ADC leaders is simply to tell the president and those encouraging division that they will have a day of reckoning,” he said.
The statement comes amid growing tensions within the ADC, with factions emerging over leadership disputes and recognition by INEC.
Ologbodinya maintained that despite the challenges, the party remains committed to strengthening its internal structures and positioning itself as a credible alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape.
