Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen militia have attacked Mgbaan village, Guma Local Government (LG), Benue State, killing two persons.
Our correspondent gathered that the marauders, also tortured a lady, who they attempted to kidnap, but mother luck smiled on her as she escaped by divine intervention.
Mgbaan village, is situated between Daudu and Yelwata settlements, along Makurdi-Lafia highway, in Nyiev Council Ward, Guma LG. A source from the community, who didn’t want to be named, told newsmen in Makurdi , yesterday, that the attack occurred at the early hours of yesterday, August 3, 2025.
According to our source, the Chairman of Guma LG and Benue ALGON Chairman, Hon. Maurice Orwough, have visited the scene of the incident.
The two victims include: Terkimbir Iorhen Igbawua and Mlumun Igbawua.
Orwough, who rushed to the scene, urged the security operatives to enforce full operations.
He also took the tortured lady ,who regained freedom from her abductors to the hospital for medical treatment. The council chairman, also directed the Local Government Security Secretary to release funds for the burial of the victims slated for today.
The chairman, who reiterated his promise to prioritize the security and safety of the people, assured the people that in no distance time, the crises would be a thing of the past.
Orwough was accompanied to the scene by the Council Chairman of Ukum; Hon. Jonathan Modi, Council Chairman of Buruku; Hon. Raymond Zege and PSA to Benue state Governor on Protocol and Wardrobe, Hon. Emmanuel Iorbee.
