President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to resolving Nigeria’s security challenges permanently, urging unity as he engages regional and international partners during his Easter break in Lagos.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, who briefed the President on invitation, said security dominated discussions following Tinubu’s recent Jos visit. “Security is uppermost in his mind. He keeps talking and discussing with the security agencies on how we can find a lasting solution,” Idris revealed. As Commander-in-Chief, Tinubu called on Nigerians to reflect patriotically and support efforts to end insecurity once and for all, in collaboration with regional and global allies.
Idris highlighted the significance of Chad President Mahamat Déby’s Abuja visit on the same day as the Jos trip. “It is very significant… Terrorism has no borders… It is almost impossible for Nigeria to act alone,” he stated. “Regional cooperation, especially with our neighbours is absolutely important.”
He said discussions focused on deepening ties not just with Chad but all Sahel neighbours, alongside partnerships with the United States, European, United Kingdom, and others—topics also raised during Tinubu’s UK state visit.
Beyond security, Tinubu inquired update about media welfare post-Abuja executives’ meeting. “One of the first questions he asked me was how are they faring,” Idris said, noting the President’s dispassionate review and upcoming decisions to aid media operations.
He stressed Tinubu’s attentiveness: “Mr. President is listening… He is a keen watcher of events.” Positive international reports on Nigeria’s reforms were also celebrated, with agencies giving the country a “pass mark” as it reclaims its global standing.
In another visit, BUA Group Chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu paid respects, extending Sallah and birthday wishes. “It is a tradition for me to always come and pay my respects… I took the opportunity to convey my goodwill, appreciation, and continued support,” Rabiu said, praying for Tinubu’s health and leadership.
