Speakers at the 2025 Youth Summit held at Grace Cathedral, Enugu, including, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Prof. Nnanyelugo Martins Ikemonso and the Presiding Bishop, Grace Cathedral Enugu, Dr. Goddy Madu, who gave the charge urged the youths to seek new opportunities.
The summit with the theme, “Let the Christian Youths Thrive,” was organised by the Youth Wing, Christian Association of Nigeria, (YOWICAN), Enugu State.
Delivering his lecture, Prof. Ikemonso charged the youths to prioritise the identification of fresh entrepreneurship opportunities.
The RMRDC boss urged the youths to always identify new entrepreneurship opportunities where they would invest and make money before other people venture into them.
He faulted the rush into already exiting entrepreneurship opportunities and reminded the youths that “when people rush into already existing opportunities, there is likelihood that they will crash.”
Stressing that there was need for the youths to identify opportunities that would give them profit, he urged them to act with speed before others embrace such businesses.
Noting that entrepreneurs generate 90 per cent of all employments, Ikemonso further advised the youths to pull resources together to pursue fresh and viable entrepreneurship opportunities.
In his own presentation, Bishop Madu urged the youths to endeavour to be the first to discover the uncultivated land.
He charged them to think out of the economic box and do something that others were not doing, pointing out that “it is not wrong for you to be the first to start something.”
Earlier, the Enugu State Chairman of YOWICAN, Ani Samuel Chekwube, said as Christians, they were expected to multiply and rule their world, adding that the need for them to fulfill that injunction informed the theme of the summit.
Ani said, “As Christians we have a manual and our manual is the Bible. If you read through the Bible, it is expected that as Christians we should multiply and rule our world.”
He expressed optimism that with the quality of resource persons they brought for the summit, the story of the youths would change after teachings.
Participants at the event who were drawn from the different Christian denominations were empowered with soft skill/career development.
