Wife of the Cross River State Governor, Bishop Eyoanwan Otu, has empowered residents of Odukpani Local Government Area with multi million Naira business kits.
Mrs. Otu, who is also the Founder of Humanity Without Borders Empowerment Initiative, donated items comprising engine boats, sewing machines, hair dressing salon kits and motorcycles.
Other items donated include solar lights, mini buses, pregnant women kits, barbing salon kits, POS machines and cash grants.
Speaking during the empowerment, which took place at Eki ward, Bishop Otu said the initiative was aimed at empowering the locals to start or scale their various businesses.
Bishop Otu highlighted the importance of the empowerment, stating that she expects them to use the items gifted them judiciously.
“I want to appeal to you, to use the items given to you judiciously. You know I don’t have a budget I work with, but from whatever I receive from well-meaning individuals, I try to give back to humanity,” he said.
Detailing the gift items, the First Lady said, “Today, we are giving out 10 engine boats, 18 sewing machines, 12 hair dressing salon kits, 18 motorcycles, six mini buses and 30 solar lights.
“Other items we are giving out are 18 grinding machines, six barbing salon kits, 30 POS machines with N20,000 cash attached for start up, 100 mother and child care kit/pregnancy kit and N100,000 cash grants to 30 female petty traders,” she said.
She thanked partners who supported the empowerment, Ben Akak, the National Deputy Treasurer of the APC, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong and Prince Edwin Okon, among others.
