The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone C, Owerri, Comptroller Bischi Balogun, has decorated 67 officers recently promoted within the command.
Speaking during the ceremony, Comptroller Balogun described the exercise as a reward for dedication, discipline, and excellence in service to the Nigeria Customs Service and the nation.
“Today, we celebrate not just promotions, but dedication, discipline, and excellence. Promotion in the Service is not routine; it is a reward for hard work, loyalty, and commitment to duty. It also comes with greater responsibilities and expectations,” he said.
He congratulated the 67 officers, urging them to see their elevation as a call to higher performance, integrity, and leadership.
The CAC further tasked the newly promoted officers to intensify their efforts in anti-smuggling operations, revenue recovery, and trade facilitation, stressing that the FOU is a critical arm of the Service with high national expectations.
“With promotion comes higher responsibility. You must uphold the Service’s core values of integrity, transparency, and professionalism,” he said.
He also appreciated the Comptroller General of Customs and the Management team for their support, as well as the families and colleagues of the decorated officers for their encouragement and sacrifices.
While encouraging those who were not promoted not to be discouraged, he urged them to remain committed and prepare better for future opportunities.
“As we proceed with this decoration, let us remember that it is both a celebration and a rededication to duty. I encourage all promoted officers to wear their new ranks with pride, humility, and renewed commitment to the Service and to Nigeria,” he added.
The breakdown of the promotion includes: AC–DC (3), CSC–AC (1), SC–CSC (4), DSC–SC (7), ASCI–DSC (15), ASCII–ASCI (17), IC–ASCII (18), and AIC–IC (2).
