The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has once again earned national recognition for excellence in public engagement and strategic communication as its National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, an Assistant Comptroller of Customs, has been named one of Nigeria’s 50 most influential PR and communications professionals in the prestigious 2025 PR Power List.

The list, published recently by GLG Communications in partnership with The Guardian Newspapers, celebrates leading voices shaping the future of public relations and communications across Nigeria and the diaspora.

Maiwada was listed in the Changemakers category, an elite classification reserved for professionals who are redefining industry standards through innovation, measurable impact, and bold communication strategies.

Reacting to the recognition, the Customs Spokesman described the honour as both humbling and affirming of the progress made within the Customs Service’s public communication framework.

“This recognition is deeply humbling. It speaks to the commitment of the Service to modernise public engagement, enhance transparency, and build trust through effective storytelling and timely dissemination of accurate information,” he said.

He also acknowledged the collective effort behind the achievement: “While I am honoured to be listed, I believe the greater credit goes to the team I work with and the visionary leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, whose reforms have empowered us to think differently, act boldly and represent the Service with dignity and professionalism.”

The 2025 edition commended AC Maiwada and others in his category for “shaping the future of public relations through bold moves, long-term experience, and impact-driven communication.”

The honour not only affirms Maiwada’s personal contribution but also signals the rising credibility of the Nigeria Customs Service in the public communication space, anchored in professionalism, strategic messaging, and a commitment to transparent service delivery.
