Afrobeats star Davido has publicly criticized the Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Abba, over the ongoing political unrest in the state.
Osun, currently governed by Davido’s uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is witnessing heightened tensions between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC). The crisis escalated after sacked APC-backed local government chairmen attempted to reclaim their positions despite court rulings removing them from office.
Governor Adeleke recently urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene, accusing Minister Gboyega Oyetola of using security forces to support the reinstatement of the dismissed chairmen. On Monday, February 17, 2025, the situation worsened as gunfire erupted across multiple local government secretariats when APC supporters clashed with PDP members.
Reacting to the events, Davido took to X (formerly Twitter) to call out CP Mohammed Abba, accusing him of bias and failing to uphold the rule of law. In a series of strongly worded posts, he warned the commissioner against siding with political interests, vowing to keep exposing him publicly.
Davido’s posts, written in a mix of English and Pidgin, included strong language, signaling his frustration over the situation. He labeled the commissioner a “disgrace” and threatened to call him out daily if the police failed to act impartially.
The crisis in Osun continues to unfold, with concerns about escalating violence and political instability in the state.
