DSP, who gifted each of the 35 players with a motorcycle and a cash of N500,000, lauded their passion and dedication towards the game, saying their promotion was largely as a result of their committment and passion.

He disclosed that with his eyes set on winning the Premier League, he has secured the service of the chairman of all the coaches in Nigeria to guide the team while adding that he has also beefed up the team with an array of new players to ensure the team is competitive enough.

Barau added that he decided to set up a football club so as to engage the youths of the state in a more productive way.

“Because when you look at what is happening as we speak, in Kano State and indeed the entire nation, the issue of drug addiction is very, very rampant these days” he stated.

“Our children or our youths are going into vices like stealing, robbery and what have you. In Kano now, you can’t move around freely with your phone. Someone very young will steal that phone from you” he lamented.

“So I feel that in order to reduce such occurrences, there is a need to bring up a football team that will help, no matter how little, to engage them positively” he said.
