Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has called on the people of the State to continue praying and supporting the programmes of his administration to enable him achieve more infrastructural development for the State .
The governor made the call at the 2026 Easter Programme with the theme: “The Risen Christ and the Risen Edo State” held at Edo State Government House Chapel in Benin City.
Represented by his Special Adviser on Women in Christ, Pastor Aburime-Walter Courage Iziegbe, Governor Okpebholo described the gains of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the bedrock of the all round infrastructure and human capital development recorded across the state.
She noted that “this is a Calvary experience” as the governor sent a message of restoration, hope and faith to Edo people because Jesus Christ rose from the dead to give the people victory.
She called on the people to keep praying for the governor, his administration and uphold the State ensuring the it gets to enviable heights.
“This is a message of wisdom and grace to Edo people. We should keep praying for the governor, his administration, uphold the State for God to take the State to enviable heights.
“The governor is working and will do more if the people uphold this administration in prayers. We need to encourage the governor to do more through our collective and individual prayers”, Pastor Iziegbe solicited.
The Chaplain Government House Chapel who is also the Special Adviser to Gov. Okpebholo on religious matters, Apostle Sule Faraday Azekhumen, said a new Edo has risen under Okpebholo.
He said the Easter service is to thank God for the remarkable results recorded in the past one year.
“Easter is not a rememberance; it is a revelation. It reveals that whatever is touched by the power of God can rise beyond limitation, move beyond resistance, and enter into a realm of sustained glory.
“It’s in this light that we understand our theme: “The Risen Christ and the Risen Edo State. Through the SHINE agenda, we see a reflection of resurrection principles, where order replaces disorder, strength replaces weakness and hope uncertainty.
“Since the declaration “A New Edo is Risen”, this administration has remained intentional in translating vision into visible progress. Today it’s clear that Edo State is not only risen but is moving forward with stability, clarity and purpose”, he said.
Special Adviser to Gov. Okpebholo on Communication Strategy and Media Project, Hon. Godswill Inegbe, said the governor is in office to work for Edo people and transform the State, noting that in the last 15 months the governor has transformed promises into realities.
“Governor Okpebholo is fixing our infrastructural deficit as he is in a hurry to develop the State. He has embarked on infrastructural development across all sectors in the three Senatorial Districts of the State. Today, Edo people can see development in terms of infrastructure”.
Inegbe commended governor Okpebholo for embarking on the construction of flyover bridge at Ramat park which is a legacy project and over 90 percent completed, stressing that the project will out lived this administration.
Guest Speaker, Apst. Favour Mopa-Awom in a message titled “He Rose To Break Barriers That You Might Rise” said Christ’s resurrection was meaningful in the lives of believers as the grave lacked the capacity to keep him.
He noted that the journey of life is associated with one barrier or the other but assured the congregation that the power of the resurrection has restored all.
The Service featured song ministration by the Government House Choir and Guest minister Cassidy Omoruyi Nelson as prayers were offered for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigeria, against Insurgency across the Country, peace in Edo and divine guidance for Gov. Okpebholo and his cabinet.
