Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SSAP-SDGs), Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, has urged citizens to channel the Easter season’s message of renewal into a stronger commitment to national progress and attaining the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In her Easter message released by her Special Assistant on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Desmond Utomwen, Orelope-Adefulire, extended warm greetings while highlighting the resurrection of Jesus Christ as a powerful symbol. “She emphasised the significance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ as a symbol of renewal, sacrifice, and triumph of light over darkness,” the statement noted.
She called on Nigerians to “draw inspiration from the season by embracing unity, compassion, and collective responsibility in building a better society.”
The presidential adviser linked Easter’s core values directly to the SDGs, stating that “the values of Easter align closely with the principles underpinning the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly the pursuit of inclusiveness, equity, and shared prosperity.”
Orelope-Adefulire rallied stakeholders across government, private sector, and civil society to stay the course. “She called on all stakeholders across government, private sector, and civil society to remain steadfast in their commitment to advancing sustainable development and ensuring that no one is left behind,” the message read.
Emphasising a collaborative effort, she added: “According to her, Nigeria’s progress towards achieving the SDGs requires a whole of society approach, anchored on collaboration, resilience, and sustained action.”
Optimistic about the future, Orelope-Adefulire expressed confidence in Nigeria’s trajectory. “She expressed optimism that with continued dedication and shared vision, the country would overcome its challenges and achieve meaningful development outcomes for present and future generations.”
