Felix Morka: ADC crisis self-inflicted, not APC’s doing

By  Lawrence Agbo

Felix Morka has said the ongoing leadership crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was self-inflicted, insisting that the All Progressives Congress had no role in the dispute.

Morka, who is the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, made the clarification on News Central while reacting to the controversy surrounding the derecognition of executives linked to David Mark by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He dismissed claims that the ruling party orchestrated the internal wrangling or attempted to hijack the ADC, stressing that the crisis stemmed from the party’s own actions.

“We are only concerned about our level of preparation and the effort we are making; we are concerned about ourselves,” he said.

According to him, INEC’s decision to derecognise the affected executives was a consequence of the ADC leadership’s failure to adhere to the rule of law.

“INEC’s decision to derecognize David Mark’s executives was utterly self-inflicted. APC didn’t do that; APC didn’t orchestrate the hijack of ADC by that executive.

“We didn’t; they did that by completely ignoring the rule of law, ignoring the constitution of the party they were putting themselves into,” Morka said.

The APC spokesman maintained that the ruling party remains focused on governance and has no interest in interfering in the internal affairs of opposition parties.

The ADC crisis has continued to generate political debate, with differing accounts over the legitimacy of its leadership and the circumstances that led to INEC’s intervention.
