The Minister said her success was a pointer that the ongoing reforms in the education sector are yielding the expected result.
He appreciated the Yobe State government for the growing investment in the education sector and asked for more investment to enable the state to benefit from the education.
Commissioner of Education, Yobe State, Prof. Abbas Idris, said that Nafisah has brought global light and attention to the state, stressing she will be used as an ambassador for the state.
He said: “A few years back, our story was different and pathetic. It was a story of a state dominated by a protracted insurgency and other security challenges. Our education system was a target of brutal disruption with students and teachers mercilessly killed. Schools were destroyed, and instructional materials razed down, creating agony and fear among parents and school-aged children that made education unattractive and neglected.
“Today, we are celebrating victory. A victory of the people’s resilience and a victory of an uncommon commitment of a government that believes in the power of education as a key to a prosperous future of its people and the state.
“A few months ago, we celebrated 171 graduates of medical and allied courses sponsored by the state government to Indian universities.
These graduates have been employed and deployed to various health facilities across the state to boost manpower needs in our health sector.
“Although it is still a work in progress, the education sector in Yobe State under the committed leadership of Mai Mala Buni has no doubt progressed tremendously, especially looking at where we are coming from.”
Nafisah attributed her success to the support from the state government, her parents, and other well wishers.
She promised to mobilise more children to acquire education and also be a good ambassador of the state in terms of education and other things that will uplift the state.
