The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered a massive deployment of security assets to restore peace and stability in Plateau State following the deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, and to ensure the arrest of all perpetrators.
The IGP has also commiserated with the governor and the people of the state, particularly the affected families and residents of the Angwan Rukuba community, over the unfortunate incident, which claimed innocent lives.
The IGP, in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, said he had earlier deployed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Umar Shehu Nadada, to Plateau State to assess the security situation, coordinate ongoing operations and strengthen the existing security architecture.
Placid said the Inspector-General of Police has further intensified operations through the deployment of additional tactical teams, Police Mobile Force units and intelligence operatives, in conjunction with other security agencies, to tackle the ongoing security challenges and forestall any further breakdown of law and order across the state.
The Inspector-General of Police stated that these actions will continue until normal conditions return. He has instructed all operational commanders to ensure visible policing and actively engage with vulnerable communities.
IGP Disu called on members of the public to remain calm and vigilant, to cooperate with security agencies and to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. He further urged citizens to promptly report any incidents or suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities to support ongoing operations.
