Joe Igbokwe faults calls for Nnamdi Kanu’s release

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe has rejected a call by veteran Nollywood actress, Rita Edochie for the release of Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu, who is being prosecuted on terrorism-related charges by the Federal Government, has been in detention since his extraordinary rendition from Kenya in 2021.

In an Instagram post, Edochie joined growing calls for the release of the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

She emphasised that Kanu’s release would help restore peace in the South-East geopolitical zone, adding that he is “too unique to be in captivity”.

Edochie further stated that all the separatist leader’s predictions about the nation’s state of affairs have come to pass.

Reacting in a Facebook post on Tuesday, Igbokwe said he felt “like vomiting” after reading Edochie’s post.

He said, “I just read Mrs Rita Edochie’s plea for Nnamdi Kanu freedom and I feel like vomiting.

“Maybe she did not know what happened in the South East from 2015 to 2025. This is unbelievable.”
