Kano APC faces challenges but can overcome — Doguwa

From Desmond Mgboh, Kano

A member of the House of Representatives (Tudun Wada-Doguwa constituency), Alhasan Ado Doguwa, has admitted that the All Progressives Congress in Kano State is grappling with internal challenges ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

Doguwa, a former Majority Leader in the House of Representatives who also served as Chief Whip in the 8th Assembly, made the admission while addressing party supporters in the state on Friday.

He disclosed that, despite the seeming calmness within the party, there are issues that are begging for attention.

“I’m being clear: there are pressing problems that require immediate attention,” he declared.

“There are problems, and we should be the ones to solve it. I’m mentioning this not to boast, but because I can cite a typical example where we had a similar challenge. When we tackled it collectively, it’s now a thing of the past.”

The legislator asserted that “Anybody who does not admit there’s an existing problem in APC in Kano and does not chart a course for solving it is probably not ready to win the elections.”

“In our last meeting with the state governor, he reassured us that he is going to fulfil all his obligations by supporting party faithfuls through empowerment programmes and many other initiatives we don’t even know about.”

As part of the reconciliation efforts, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and immediate past National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, were reported to have held a crucial meeting in Abuja, where they resolved some of the grey areas that may ruin the party’s chances in the 2027 general elections.
