Harry Maguire has extended his stay at Manchester United after signing a one-year contract extension, with an option for a further year, keeping him at Old Trafford beyond the current season.
The 33-year-old defender, who joined from Leicester City in a then world-record £80 million move for a centre-back in 2019, had entered the final months of his previous deal before agreeing fresh terms.
“Representing Manchester United is the ultimate honour.”
“It is a responsibility that makes myself and my family proud every single day.”
Maguire said he remains motivated by the club’s ambition and is eager to contribute to its push for major honours, with United currently in strong contention for a return to elite European competition.
“I am delighted to extend my journey at this incredible club to at least eight seasons and continue to play in front of our special supporters to create more amazing moments together.”
“You can feel the ambition and potential of this exciting squad. The determination throughout the whole club to fight for major trophies is clear for everyone to see and I am confident that our best moments together remain ahead of us.”
The England international has enjoyed a resurgence in form, becoming a key figure under the current technical setup and earning a national team recall after an 18-month absence.
United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, praised Maguire’s leadership and professionalism, highlighting his importance within a developing squad.
“Harry represents the mentality and resilience required to perform for Manchester United.”
“He is the ultimate professional who brings invaluable experience and leadership to our young, ambitious squad.”
“Harry, like everyone at the club, is completely determined to help Manchester United to achieve regular and sustained success.”
With over 260 appearances and multiple domestic trophies already to his name, Maguire’s extension signals continuity as United push to rebuild consistency and compete at the highest level.
