Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory Administration, Mariya Mahmoud has reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s (FCTA) commitment to advancing healthcare services through infrastructure development, workforce empowerment, and stronger collaboration among healthcare professionals.
She gave this assurance at the inaugural summit of the Dental Technologists Registration Board of Nigeria held recently at Merit House, Maitama, according to a statement issued by her media aide, Austine Elemue.
Mahmoud emphasised the growing importance of dental technologists as integral members of multidisciplinary dental care teams in both public and private sectors, noting the rising global focus on oral health and modern dental prosthetics.

She urged participants to embrace the transformative potential of digitization and artificial intelligence, stressing the necessity for standardized training and the pursuit of global competitiveness within the dental technology field.
Highlighting the need to foster research and boost local production of dental materials, she called for efforts to reduce reliance on imports. Mahmoud also encouraged summit delegates to engage in strategic dialogue aimed at producing actionable policy recommendations to raise professional standards nationwide.
“The FCT Administration remains fully supportive of initiatives designed to improve healthcare delivery, and we are proud of the remarkable progress achieved by dental technologists,” she stated.
Registrar of the Dental Technologists Registration Board of Nigeria, Idris Bappah, noted that the summit would serve as a vital platform for assessing challenges and exploring innovative solutions to strengthen the profession.
“This summit is a critical platform for us to collectively identify obstacles and propose innovative solutions that will strengthen the human factor within our profession,” he remarked.
