Preparations are in top gear for the 2026 National Convention of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) slated for May, with appointments into key positions already being made.

In March, NANS inaugurated an Independent Convention Planning Committee (I-CPC), marking the beginning of preparations for a leadership transition in the student body.

In April, Chairman of the committee, Omotayo Oladele Samuel, appointed Agunbiade Adekeye as Chief Protocol to the Chairman, NANS I-CPC 2026.

Adekeye conveyed his acceptance of the role in a statement sent to SunOnline on Saturday.

Adekeye said he acknowledged the appointment with a deep sense of honour and responsibility.

He expressed appreciation to the chairman for finding him worthy of this “important role”, describing his appointment as a clear testament to the chairman’s confidence in his capacity, commitment, and dedication to the ideals of the student movement.

“I do not take this opportunity for granted, and I am truly grateful for the trust reposed in me.

“I hereby accept this appointment with utmost humility and a strong commitment to excellence.

“I fully understand the critical responsibilities attached to the Office of the Chief Protocol, particularly in ensuring proper coordination, orderliness, and professionalism in all official engagements of the Chairman and the Committee.

“I am prepared to bring my experience, discipline, and attention to detail to bear in the effective discharge of these duties,” Adekeye stated.

He assured the chairman of his readiness to work collaboratively with all members of the committee to uphold the integrity, image, and operational efficiency of NANS I-CPC.

“I am committed to maintaining the highest standards of conduct, ensuring seamless protocol arrangements, and contributing meaningfully to the successful execution of all activities leading up to and during the convention,” Adekeye added.
