In a move set to empower women entrepreneurs across Nigeria, the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs has joined forces with the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women in a strategic partnership aimed at expanding access to training, finance, and markets for women-led businesses nationwide.

The agreement was formalised during a signing ceremony at Cherie Blair CBE KC’s private residence, with the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, and representatives of the Cherie Blair Foundation marking the launch of this impactful collaboration.

“This partnership underlines our conviction that economic empowerment of women is critical to the nation’s growth,” Sulaiman-Ibrahim stated. “We are committed to delivering real tools and opportunities that will uplift millions of Nigerian women and build a stronger economy.”

Blair expressed her strong support for the initiative, saying, “Women entrepreneurs are vital to Nigeria’s economic future. I deeply appreciate the Ministry’s dedication to addressing the challenges women face to ensure sustainable and inclusive growth.”

The collaboration complements the Ministry’s Renewed Hope Social Impact Interventions – 774 Programme, which targets improvements for women, children, and vulnerable groups across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas, as part of President Bola Tinubu’s broader Renewed Hope Agenda.

The CEO of the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, Dhivya O’Connor, highlighted the Foundation’s proven expertise: “Having supported nearly 150,000 women globally, we are excited to bring our specialist training, digital engagement, and local-focused approach to Nigeria through this committed, long-term partnership.”

Together, the Ministry and the Foundation aim to usher in a new era of sustainable economic empowerment for Nigerian women entrepreneurs, leveraging their combined strengths to drive meaningful, lasting change.

“This partnership reflects months of careful planning and shared vision,” Minister Sulaiman-Ibrahim added. “We look forward to delivering measurable impact that transforms lives and communities across Nigeria.”
