NITDA Empowers 50 Enugu Youths With Digital Tools as part of efforts to deepen digital inclusion and innovation in Nigeria. The initiative was carried out during the Enugu Tech Festival 2026 in April, where the agency supported young innovators with tools to enhance their skills and productivity.

Importantly, the programme attracted over 900 participants, out of which 50 outstanding youths were selected and equipped with digital tools, while about 250 others were recognised for excellence. 

As a result, the initiative created both recognition and real support for emerging talents.

What The Programme Was About

The initiative focused on building digital capacity among young Nigerians.

Moreover, participants were trained in key digital skills through NITDA’s platforms before the final selection of top performers. 

In addition, the programme aimed to:Strengthen innovation,Support tech-driven ideas,Prepare youths for the digital economy

Therefore, it combined training with practical empowerment.

Role Of Enugu State In The Initiative

The programme also highlighted the role of the Enugu State Government under Governor Peter Mbah.

Moreover, NITDA commended the governor for supporting the agency’s South-East Zonal Office, which has become one of its top-performing offices nationwide.

Consequently, Enugu is positioning itself as an emerging tech hub.

From Coal Economy To Digital Innovation

A key message from the event was Enugu’s transformation.

Moreover, the state, historically known for coal production, is now shifting toward a knowledge and innovation-driven economy. 

In addition, leaders emphasized that the true resource of the state is now its people—their creativity and skills.

Therefore, the focus is moving from natural resources to human capital.
