The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in collaboration with the Gombe State Government, on Thursday hosted the North-East zonal edition of the GITEX Nigeria Startup Roadshow 2025, bringing together innovators, entrepreneurs, and tech stakeholders from across the region.
The event, themed “Bringing Nigeria’s innovation to global opportunities”, was held in Gombe and aimed to spotlight promising startups from the North-East as part of a national innovation drive running across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones from July 15 to 30.
Representing NITDA’s Director General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, at the event, Ahmed Muhammad described the roadshow as a “strategic platform for engagement, empowerment, and exposure”. He emphasised that the initiative is geared towards identifying and elevating local talents while building a robust digital innovation ecosystem that supports job creation, digital inclusion, and economic development.
“This is more than a competition. It is part of a national movement to recognise innovation as the engine of Nigeria’s economic growth. Despite the challenges the North-East has faced, it remains rich in creativity and resilience. At NITDA, we are committed to nurturing digital entrepreneurship and ensuring no talent is left behind,” Muhammad said.
The Gombe State Commissioner for Science, Technology, and Innovation, Dr Abdullahi Bappah Garkuwa, represented by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Muhammad Galadima, highlighted the state’s pride in hosting the event, noting that GITEX Nigeria 2025 offers a platform to foster collaboration, promote entrepreneurship, and position Nigeria as a hub of innovation.
He said, “We are here to connect ecosystems and showcase the technological strength of our states and country. This event will inspire a new wave of innovation across the region,” Galadima said.
