The coronation will be held a day after his 81st birthday, which is Thursday September 25.
Media aide to Ladoja, Chief Adeola Oloko, told Daily Sun that Governor Makinde visited Ladoja on Wednesday afternoon at his Bodija residence.
He stated that Makinde held a closed-door meeting with Ladoja and a former President-General, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Chief Bayo Oyero.
As gathered, it was during the meeting by the trio that Makinde conveyed the news of his approval of the nomination to Ladoja, and the date for the coronation was fixed.
The monarch’s media aide, Chief Adeola Oloko, confirmed that the coronation ceremony would take place at the historic Mapo Hall Arcade in Ibadan.
The coronation is expected to be a grand affair with the full involvement of the state government.
Ladoja had on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with the ibadan kingmakers at his residence on Ondo Street, Old Bodija.
The coronation is expected to draw prominent figures from across the state and beyond.
The Olubadan-in-Council that doubles as the Ibadan kingmakers had unanimously nominated Ladoja and ratified the nomination on August 4, 2025, as the 44th Olubadan.
Ladoja will succeed Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan, who passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the age of 90, which was just two days after celebrating his 90th birthday on July 5.
Oba Olakulehin had ascended the throne on July 12, 2024, following the death of his predecessor, Oba Lekan Balogun.
