The Osun State Government has urged residents to prioritize safe sex during Valentine’s Day celebrations, emphasizing the importance of HIV/AIDS prevention and responsible sexual health practices.
In a statement released by the Executive Secretary of the Osun State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS (O-SACA), Olusegun Daramola, the government announced the distribution of free condoms and lubricants at malls and lounges across the state to encourage safe behavior.
Raising Awareness on HIV/AIDS Prevention
Daramola highlighted Valentine’s Day as a key opportunity to educate residents about the risks of unprotected sex and the importance of knowing one’s HIV status.
“HIV/AIDS remains a significant public health concern, making it essential for people to avoid risky behaviors such as unprotected sexual intercourse. We strongly encourage individuals to get tested and know their status.”
Osun’s Commitment to Reducing HIV Prevalence
The Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration has reaffirmed its commitment to reducing HIV prevalence and working towards the global goal of ending AIDS by 2030.
“To support safe practices, we will provide free condoms and lubricants at selected locations, including malls and lounges. We encourage residents to take advantage of this initiative—let’s share love, not the disease,” the statement added.
As part of its public health strategy, the Osun State Government continues to prioritize HIV prevention, testing, and treatment, urging residents to make informed choices regarding their sexual health.
