Anambra State Police Command, on Tuesday, said that it has rescued a kidnap victim at Oba/Ojoto axis in Idemmili South Local Government of the state.
Anambra State Public Relations Officer (PPRO),SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement, said that the victim, was rescued barely seven hours after her abduction.

“Following a swift and coordinated operation by Joint operatives from the Anambra State Police Command Tactical Team in the early hours on September 30, 2025, a kidnapped victim was successfully rescued at Oba/Ojoto axis, seven hours after he was abducted by armed criminals at Umuru Village, Nnobi. The criminal elements had earlier demanded a ransom of ₦10 million.
“Consequently, the Joint Command tactical teams, on intelligence-led operation,were immediately deployed to the location for aggressive and extensive combing.
“Under the pressure of the advancing rescue operation, the kidnappers hastily released the victim and fled into nearby bushes. The victim was rescued unharmed, debriefed, and has since been reunited with his family”, the statement read.
Ikenga said police operatives were currently working on some clues for the possible arrest of the fleeing hoodlums.
He said that Commissioner of Police , Ikioye Orutugu, commended the operatives for their swift action and reassured Anambra residents of the command’s unwavering commitment to fighting crime, protecting lives, and ensuring public safety.
