…Four suspects arrested in coordinated operation in Kware LGA
From Shafa’atu Suleiman, Sokoto
The Sokoto State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its fight against insecurity with the arrest of four suspected bandits and cattle rustlers in Sabon Birni Village, Kware Local Government Area.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufai, the operation was carried out on October 4, 2025, following credible intelligence that exposed the suspects’ hideout.
The suspects identified as Bubale Muhammed, Bammo Tanimu, Maluma Arzika, and Bilal Umar were reportedly well-known in the community before fleeing into the bush, where they allegedly joined criminal groups terrorizing the Wamakko–Kware axis.
The police tactical team from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit stormed the area after receiving reports that the suspects had recently returned to the village and were seen spending lavishly, prompting suspicions from locals. The swift operation led to their arrest without incident.
During the raid, officers recovered quantities of illicit hard drugs in the possession of one of the suspects, identified as Bilal Umar, believed to be the group’s drug supplier. A further search of the suspects’ mobile phones revealed incriminating videos showing them brandishing rifles in what appeared to be a bandit camp.
“This operation is a testament to our unwavering commitment to rooting out criminal elements and restoring safety to our communities,” the Sokoto State Commissioner of Police stated
“The arrests of these individuals, particularly their drug supplier, represent a critical step in dismantling the network that fuels violence and instability in the region.”
The Command noted that investigations are in top gear as efforts continue to track down other members of the syndicate and bring them to justice. Authorities believe that the arrests could help uncover wider criminal networks responsible for attacks and cattle rustling in parts of the state.
Reaffirming the Command’s dedication to public safety, DSP Rufai urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities. “We encourage the public to say something when they see something and the police will do something,” he said.
The Sokoto State Police Command reiterated its commitment to sustaining intelligence-led policing, strengthening community partnerships, and maintaining relentless pressure on criminal elements threatening peace across the state.
