Rivers State Governor Fubara Calls for Peace Amid Political Turmoil

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged residents to remain calm and peaceful during the ongoing political crisis. Hosting Muslim leaders from 20 Islamic groups in Port Harcourt for Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, Fubara expressed optimism, stating, “We will emerge stronger.”

Emphasizing his commitment to justice and equality, Fubara reassured the Muslim community that their concerns would be addressed once the political situation stabilizes. He cautioned against elements attempting to incite violence, urging citizens to reject actions aimed at destabilizing the state. Highlighting the importance of peace, he remarked, “No sacrifice is too big to pay for peace in this State.”

In a broader message to the people of Rivers State, Fubara acknowledged the challenges faced but encouraged resilience, saying, “Brace up, what’s ahead is more than what has just passed.” He reaffirmed his dedication to prioritizing the state’s interests, even at personal cost, and called for collective action to overcome current difficulties.

Amid these developments, the Rivers State House of Assembly has given Governor Fubara a 48-hour ultimatum to re-present the 2025 Appropriation Bill, as part of efforts to address the state’s financial challenges.
