A 17-year-old student fatally stabbed a school teacher on Tuesday in Dobryanka, Perm region, Russia, local authorities reported.
The victim, Olesya Petrovna Baguta, born in 1970, taught Russian language and literature. She was attacked at the school entrance, and despite efforts by medical personnel, she could not be saved, according to regional governor Dmitry Makhonin.
“Unfortunately, despite all the doctors’ efforts, Olesya Petrovna Baguta, a Russian language and literature teacher… could not be saved,” he said in a later message.
Police have detained the teenage attacker. The incident adds to a series of recent violent episodes in Russian schools, including knife attacks in the Urals and Siberia, and an air gun attack in central Russia.
