The Senator Representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, Senator Dr. Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari popularly called Marafan Sokoto has bagged an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Public Administration from University of Nigeria Nsukka, Enugu State.
This was disclosed in a statement issued to journalists in Gusau by Honourable Ibrahim Muhammad (Danmadamin Birnin Magaji), For The Publicity Sub-Committee to Senator Abdulaziz Yari. Who said that, the event took place in the Main Campus of the Institution at Nsukka, Enugu State on Saturday, 26/07 /2025.

The statement read that, the conferment of the Honorary Doctorate Degree on the distinguished Senator was to deliberately recognize his outstanding contributions toward educational development of his people.
Speaking at the event, the Chancellor of the University, His Royal Majesty The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi CFR said “it was with keen interest and rare admiration that we have been observing the modest contribution of the awardee, especially in the area of education”.
The Chancellor who spoke through the Pro–chancellor of the Institution, Engineer Kayode Olubunmi Ojo explained that the award was to recognize such efforts and further spurr the awardee and his likes into more active participation in the good work so that a collaborative approach in the educational system of our respective communities will be adopted with a view to uplifting it.
In his remarks, The University’s Acting Vice – Chancellor, Prof. Oguejifor T. Ujam stated that the name of the awardee was carefully selected out of the many names submitted to the management of the University by a team of experts who scrutinized the list using so many parameters in quantifying their individual and personal contributions in the educational development of their people, adding that Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari made it to the list with relative ease because of his steadfastness in this regard.
The Visitor to the Institution and Nigeria’s President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR congratulated the awardee describing him as an outstanding performer in all aspects of human endeavors, and a honest, sincere and reliable ally.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who spoke through the Vice Chancellor, Micheal Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe urged the awardee to sustain his lofty ideals, adding that they are in line with his Administration Renewed Hope Agenda that will secure and guarantee the future of our nation.
Receiving the Award on behalf of the Awardee, Chairman of Senator A A Yari Scholarship Initiative Committee, Senator Tijjani Yahaya Kaura MFR (Tafidan Kaura) expressed gratitude to the management, staff and the University Community for the honour, reaffirming that it will serve as grease to the elbows of the recipient.
The event was attended by many important dignitaries including the Senate Majority Leader, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele.
