Three killed, two injured in fresh Plateau attacks

Gunmen struck communities in Plateau State Wednesday night, leaving three people dead and two others injured in separate attacks.

In Heipang, near Plateau State Polytechnic, gunmen opened fire around 11 pm in Ban community. Two residents were shot, including a woman who later succumbed to her injuries, while two others were wounded. The attack caused panic among students living off-campus, with one student, Nanchip Dube, saying the gunfire “created confusion and fear.”

Earlier, in Riyom Local Government Area, 27-year-old Amos Monday was killed when gunmen ambushed a group of youths traveling between Baten and Du’a villages.

Rwang Tengwong confirmed both attacks and advised residents of surrounding communities, including Jos South, Barkin Ladi, and Riyom, to remain vigilant. Attempts to reach the Plateau State Police Command for comment were unsuccessful.

The attacks highlight ongoing security challenges in Plateau State, with civilians and students increasingly vulnerable to violence.
