Tompolo’s Tantita Unveils 250-Seater JAMB CBT Center in Delta’s Riverine Community

Riverine communities in Delta State’s Ogulagha Kingdom celebrated the unveiling of a state-of-the-art JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) center, refurbished and upgraded by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL).

As part of its corporate social responsibility, TSSNL equipped the Sologha Ekpemukpolo JAMB CBT Center with 250 brand-new HP laptops, Starlink internet services, and a solar inverter system to ensure an uninterrupted power supply. Originally donated by Shell Petroleum Development Company in 2012 as an ICT hub, the facility has now been transformed into a JAMB-accredited CBT centre.

Victor Isereke, an official familiar with the project, highlighted the improvements, including the renovation of the entire facility, installation of modern computer systems, upgraded toilet facilities, and alternative power solutions to reduce diesel dependency.

The push to convert the facility into a JAMB CBT center began in 2021, championed by Burutu Federal Constituency lawmaker Julius Pondi. He recognized the struggles of students from riverine communities who previously had to travel long distances to the hinterland for exams. Despite initial resistance due to its remote location, the center was eventually approved and upgraded to meet JAMB’s standards.

At the inauguration, Pondi, represented by his Senior Legislative Aide Tonkiri Apu, praised TSSNL’s efforts, stating that the centre will make education more accessible for students in rural areas.

Ogulagha Community Chairman, Daniel Okebor, expressed gratitude and assured that security measures had been put in place to protect the facility from vandalism. Local students also shared their excitement over the development, which eliminates the need for long and costly trips to take their JAMB exams.
