…Promises similar strides in Anambra
From Kenneth Udeh, Abuja
The All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate in Anambra State, Senator Dr. Uche Ekwunife (CON, PhD), has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodinma following the commissioning of several landmark federal and state projects in Owerri and pledged to replicate comparable development across Anambra if elected on the Ukachukwu-Ekwunife ticket.
President Tinubu’s working visit to Imo on Tuesday saw the inauguration of major infrastructure works, including the reconstructed Owerri–Mbaise–Obowo–Umuahia Road, the Assumpta Twin Flyover and the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre projects Ekwunife described as “a testament to what can be achieved through purposeful governance and strategic partnerships.”
In a statement from her media office she congratulated Governor Uzodinma and commended the federal-state collaboration behind the projects.
“I commend my dear brother, Senator Hope Uzodinma, for his unwavering dedication to transforming Imo State into a hub of progress and innovation,” Ekwunife said.
“The commissioning of these landmark projects by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is a testament to what purposeful governance and strategic partnerships can achieve.”
She assured residents of Anambra that the Ukachukwu-Ekwunife ticket would replicate and surpass such development in Anambra State, promising infrastructure renewal, inclusive governance, youth and women empowerment, and strong social welfare programs.
“With the Ukachukwu-Ekwunife mandate, Anambra will soon experience the dividends of progressive governance. We are committed to uniting our people and providing leadership that builds bridges, not walls,” she added.
The senator’s message comes amid a broader groundswell of grassroots support for the joint Ukachukwu-Ekwunife ticket which has continued to gain widespread acceptance for the November 2025 election across Anambra State.
Senator Ekwunife, fondly addressed as Ifekaolaedo Ndi Anambra and Iyom Anyanwu Nri Kingdom, has drawn admiration for her humility, compassion, and consistent grassroots connection.
Public commentators and stakeholders have highlighted the pair’s track record, compassion, and people-first style of leadership, describing them as a credible alternative for Ndi Anambra.
In a commentary, Ikenga Imo, a public analyst, described Senator Ekwunife as “an amazing Amazon with a Midas touch,” noting that her popularity and deep connection with the grassroots remain unmatched. He said her compassion, humility, and respect for ordinary citizens set her apart from other political elites.
Ikenga referenced a viral video where Ekwunife humbly declined to walk on a woman’s wrapper spread out for her, instead returning it with a smile,an act that has been widely celebrated as a reflection of her simplicity and respect for ordinary people.
“If compassion could take human form, it would have been Senator Uche Ekwunife in that moment ”, Ikenga Imo remarked.
Similarly, APC media stakeholder Comrade Charles Ezema praised the duo as “great champions” with longstanding philanthropic records from scholarships to clearing medical bills for the less privileged and described their track records as tangible proof of commitment to public service.
Ezema argued their integrity and experience make them the right pair to “take Anambrarians to the long-awaited promised land,” calling them, in a pointed phrase, as good as a “square peg in a round hole” for the task ahead.
He pointed to a string of grassroots interventions and personal philanthropy as evidence of a people-first approach that has won them favour among women, youth and elders across the state.
Beyond her personality, Ekwunife and her principal, Prince Ukachukwu, are being recognized for their records of philanthropy and service.
According to them the duo have supported countless individuals through scholarships, payment of medical bills, and grassroots empowerment initiatives.
The campaign office in its statement says these efforts will be scaled into formal policy and programme delivery if the Ukachukwu-Ekwunife mandate is entrusted with leadership on November 8, 2025.
Public opinion asserts that Ekwunife’s public congratulations to Governor Uzodinma and her framing of the Imo projects as a model for regional development serve two political purposes: they reinforce solidarity within the Southeast and offer a concrete development narrative for the Ukachukwu-Ekwunife campaign.
Findings by the SUN also revealed that the APC pair also benefited from the earlier symbolic boost of President Tinubu formally presenting the party flag to them, a move party insiders say strengthens their appeal ahead of the polls.
The campaign office of the Ukachukwu-Ekwunife ticket has also announced plans to make infrastructure, health and education the cornerstones of their manifesto, promising that lessons from neighbouring states’ projects will inform an Anambra roadmap aimed at broad-based economic growth and improved public services.
