From Shafa’atu Suleiman, Sokoto
The Special advisor to Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko on Media Bashar Abubakar has accused the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of launching a campaign of misinformation aimed at discrediting the achievements of the current administration in Sokoto State.
Speaking during a press briefing on Monday, October 6, 2025, Abubakar alleged that the PDP had resorted to “recycling outdated videos and reports from over eight years ago” in what he described as a desperate bid to mislead the public.
“Our attention has been drawn to a deliberate and mysterious campaign recently embarked upon by the leadership of the PDP. They are recycling old materials, presenting them as new evidence in an attempt to tarnish the image of Governor Aliyu and the leadership of our great party”
He said the so-called documentaries released by the PDP were “carefully packaged with lies and distortions” aimed at misleading the people of Sokoto and downplaying the achievements of the present administration.
According to him, Governor Aliyu’s government has recorded visible progress across infrastructure, education, healthcare, rural development, and governance in less than two years, surpassing what he called the “eight years of failed promises and unfulfilled expectations” under the previous PDP-led government.
“The growing popularity and credibility of Governor Aliyu are clear signs that the people of Sokoto recognize and appreciate his efforts to transform the state. We urge our citizens to remain vigilant and not be deceived by opposition propaganda.”
The S.A also debunked specific claims made in one of the PDP’s circulated videos, which allegedly credited certain water projects and housing estates to the former PDP administration.
He insisted that projects such as the Asari and Rujin Sambo water schemes, as well as the Gidan Haki housing estate, were either initiated or completed under previous APC-led administrations, not by the PDP government as claimed.
“The video in circulation was a 2016 news clip in which the then Governor promised to complete ongoing projects, a promise that was never fulfilled,” the Chairman said. “By the end of that administration, most of the projects were either abandoned or left at minimal completion levels.”
He further noted that the current administration has revived and completed many of those stalled initiatives while embarking on new ones across the state.
“The claims by the PDP are not only misleading but also a deliberate distortion of facts meant to downplay the tangible interventions of the current administration”
