The Zamfara State government, through the Ministry of Health, has donated cholera medications and consumables to areas hit by the recent outbreak.
The Health Commissioner Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun announced the donation while presenting the items to the Chairman of Maradun Local Government, Sanusi Ahmad Dosara.
The supplies, which included, Intravenous fluids(Ringers lactate, Normal saline) rubber kettles, plastic drums, handwashing stations, soap and detergents, chlorine, and various cups, were presented at the Orphans and Less Privileged Hospital in Maradun.
Dr. Maradun also stated that, the state government plans to distribute cholera drugs and other medical consumables to all 14 local government areas of the state.
She urged Ahmad Dosara to ensure the supplies are effectively used at the designated health facilities to the benefit of the residents.
According to the Commissioner, 11 local government areas of the state have been affected by the cholera outbreak and three local government areas out of the 11, which include Bungudu, Maru and Maradun have already received the drugs donated by the state government.
The Chairman thanked Governor Dauda Lawal for his timely support, and Dr Maradun for her “swift intervention,” promising to ensure the supplies reach all affected facilities.
